Facebook Slideshow: How to Make a Slideshow on Facebook

Since it was launched in 2004, Facebook has become one of the most important social media sites in the world, boasting a user base of over 2.6 billion active monthly users -- a number that doubled in the past five years alone. Videos are the most popular type of content available on the social media site, receiving engagement rates that are double that of other types of posted content.

If you are planning to make a video slideshow, Facebook is the place to have it seen by your friends and colleagues. Read on for more information about how to make a slideshow that you can share on Facebook.

How to Make a Facebook Slideshow

First, it should be noted that you don't actually make your slideshow on Facebook. Instead, you use VideoStitch video editing software and then add your video to Facebook later. In order to create your slideshow, follow these steps:

  • Install VideoStudio video editing software on your PC, download and run the installation file and complete the setup process using the on-screen prompts.
  • If you wish to use one of our Instant Project templates, go to your edit workspace and click the Instant Project button to preview the templates that are available. To see how the template will work in a video, click on the thumbnail. This will open it up in the player panel.
  • Add the media you wish to use in your slideshow to the program and simply drag and drop the photos in the order in which you want them to appear.
  • Select from the transitions available in the transitions library and drag and drop it between each video. You can make each transition the same between each photo by simply highlighting the transition and clicking to apply that transition to the video track.
  • Add titles and music and choose from a selection of available effects.
  • Once the slideshow appears as you desire, you can go to the expert tab. From there, you have the option to share the video directly to your Facebook page or to export it in a number of different formats to be added to social media at a later time.

It should be noted that there are some considerations that need to be made when it comes to posting a video to Facebook, such as:

  • Ensure that the content you have used is your own or obtained permission to use photos or music created by someone else.
  • Understand the pros and cons of different video lengths. Facebook allows users to post videos that are up to 240 minutes long. However, most Facebook users do not have the time or interest to watch a video that long on social media. Slideshows provided by small businesses on the social media platform are generally about 15 seconds long, while organic videos (those that are personal and don't involve an advertising spend) are most watched when they are at least 3 minutes long.
  • Remember that people are scrolling. Place your best images in front of your production in order to capture their attention as they scroll.
  • Remember also that most Facebook users are accessing their pages on mobile devices with the sound off. Optimize your video to present the images in a cohesive and interesting way that tells your story even without sound.
