MOD file format was created by Panasonic and JVC to contain video recordings with digital Camcorders. The recorded videos are directly saved in this format on different models of Camcorders manufactured by Panasonic, JVC and Canon. This file format is very similar to MPG format. Any system which supports MPEG-2 video can also play MOD files. MOD files are compatible with DVD players and if renamed to .MPG, it can be used as a MPG file. MOD files generally contain standard definition video, with a maximum resolution of 480i or 576i. Compared to modern powerful video container formats this format is a little behind. But still a lot can be done with MOD files on VideoStudio Pro.
